With an endorsement at HISD Connect, students will be able to enroll in the new 26-credit Distinguished Level of Achievement Plan. If they graduate in the top 10 percent of their class, they will be eligible for automatic admission to state universities via this plan.

These endorsements at HISD Connect help students develop a personalized learning plan aligned with their career interests and goals. Families will be provided with school-by-school breakdowns of student options well in advance to help them select an endorsement and career pathway that meets their child’s career interests and post-secondary goals. Additionally, students can earn more than one endorsement if they have additional class time and available courses. The endorsements will appear on the transcript and diploma.

Attendance 

Throughout a student’s educational journey, attendance is crucial from kindergarten through high school. Students who miss more than 10 percent of class sessions will face other consequences under HB5. In addition to losing credit, the child will not be given a grade until the parent addresses the issue with school personnel and finds out exactly what they need to regain credit for the course.

Distinguished Level Of Achievement 

DLA at HISD Connect is an advanced level of academic achievement earned through going beyond the foundation high school program. A total of 26 credits is required, including Algebra II, a fourth science credit, and endorsement. HISD students begin high school on a DLA graduation plan, which allows them to:
